TRIBAL STRENGTH:
Improving team effectiveness

An organisation's ability to achieve its objectives is determined by the performance of the many teams within it. And the performance of those teams is dependent on the interactions between individuals. Because teams are often formed quickly (and can change rapidly), a team's knowledge of each other's strengths, interpersonal styles and unique qualities can often be lacking.

This lack of knowledge poses a significant risk to the harmonious and optimum performance of the team, and its ability to achieve its goals. In fact, 15 years of Pathfinder research shows that most teams fail not because of a lack of skill, but due to unclear goals, lack of trust, inconsistent roles and lack of effective leadership.

Working teams rely as much on individuals as they do on group talent. While individual members need to be able to demonstrate their strengths, groups must also be able to work as a single unit. The rules of the team process need to be clarified to enable everyone to work at their best, and to achieve the 1 + 1 = 3 result that only powerful teams are capable of.

In this workshop, participants will:

  • discover the eight key characteristics that distinguish high-performance teams from average ones
  • learn to recognise the unique strengths and challenges each team member brings
  • learn to develop clear team KPIs around communication, behaviours and outcomes
  • recognise the impact of 'Concentric Rings' on team members, using them to amplify collective results
  • clarify individual and leader responsibilities in sustaining team effectiveness
